With the [[Truce of Foxhollow]], the [[Shango Empire]] and the [[Freelands Republic]] established a large demilitarized zone in the center of the continent of [[Oban]]. Both nations would deploy minimal armed forces as peacekeepers in the Neutral Zone. All trade and other travel would be monitored.

When the Truce was signed, there was a tentative plan to negotiate a permanent treaty. Such a treaty would permanently divide the Neutral Zone between the nations, and end the need for peacekeepers. However, negotiations didn't proceed as quickly as some leaders hoped. At the start of [[Season 1]], four years after the Truce, the Neutral Zone was becoming the new normal for the people who lived there.
