Oban is comparable in size to North America, reaching from a northern ice cap to a southern desert. It's younger than North America and has experienced greater tectonic forces, leading to mountain ranges that are taller and still relatively rough-edged.

The common humanoid races are well-represented in Oban: dwarf, elf, halfling, and humanoid. Gnome, half-elf, and half-orc are rare in most parts of Oban but not considered exotic. Dragonborn and tiefling are very rare and generally regarded with negative prejudice.

Oban is bounded to the east, south, and west by wide, deep oceans, and to the north by artic snowfields. In the current era, naval technology isn't adequate to reliably cross the oceans--a challenge compounded by the treacherous deep-ocean storms caused by the Chill. There are legends and rumors of past and current efforts to cross the oceans using magic (e.g., shapechanging, airships), with vague descriptions of different peoples and nations also living on Tessera. Most Obans regard these stories as myths and fairytales.
