The Veiled Path is an underground railroad that operated since at least 1085 SF. The "Veil" is a metaphor for the secrecy surrounding helping runaway slaves traveling from the Shangon Empire in the west to the Freelands in the east.

During the [[Bloodstone War]], while slavery was still legal, the Veiled Path was loosely allied with the [[Freelands Republic]].

Riverfast was used as one of many secret waystations on Path. The underground fort was cursed by the Imperial Army during the war.
