In the world of Tessera, most cultures use the Basic Calendar. (This consistency might be attributed to the Eternals.) Different cultures number the years in different ways. On the continent of Oban, the predominant contemporary model is the Imperial Calendar, which emphasizes the year the Shangon Empire was founded. Much of the history Before Founding is not precise. The dwarven clans lost most of their recorded history when they were driven from the Stone Mountain Kingdoms. The elven families retain their recorded history, but rarely allow access or public dissemination.

BF: Before Founding

• ~1400 The empires of Robrenn and Mardithia compete for control of Oban
• ~1300 Tae'Sara founded or descended from Robrenn
• ~1100 Stone Mountain Kingdoms founded
• ~830 Nok'Tur founded or descended from Tae'Sara
• 73 A cataclysm drives the dwarven clans from the Stone Mountain Kingdoms, which become the Sorrows
• 57 The War of Blade & Hammer starts (between the displaced dwarves and the western elves)
• 35 The War of Blade & Hammer ends in the Treaty of Shango; negotiation begins on long-term territory rights in western Oban

SF: Since Founding

• 0 Founding of the Shangon Empire
• 1101 The Freelands Republic is formed to counter Shangon expansion
• 1103 The Bloodstone War starts (between Shango and the Freelands Republic)
• 1110 Shangon artificers develop the first bloodstones
• 1112 Bloodstones are routinely powered by killing sentient beings (e.g., slaves, prisoners, martyrs)
• 1113 First Graven Hulks deployed
• 1122 The Blood Debt discovered; the Church decries slavery and bloodstones
• 1123 The Bloodstone War ends in a truce; Neutral Zone created
• 1127 Start of Season 1 of the campaign
