Here are some basic steps to get started in this campaign.

One essential decision is whether your PC a prime or planar.

  • A prime is a native of a world in the Prime Material Plane. If you're bringing in a PC from Tessera, then you're a prime. If you're creating a new PC, this may be a good choice if you have little or no experience with the Planescape setting.
  • A planar is a native of a non-Prime plane (including Sigil and the Outlands). If you're creating a new PC, this may be a good choice if you have some experience with the setting (e.g., you've played the video game Planescape: Torment).

Regardless of your knowledge as a player, if your PC is a planar, your PC may have knowledge of the planes. You can roll to use your PC's knowledge and/or experience.

If you're creating a new PC, ask the DM about starting level. Follow the Character Creation Guidelines.

Here's some short, recommended reading. These are foundation ideas for this campaign. You don't need to understand it all at the start.

  • "The Planes of Existence" (PHB 300-303)
  • "The Weave of Magic" (PHB 205)

Tell the DM the name of your PC and your Gmail address. I will create a Google doc for your PC, where we'll privately track personal history, magic items, and other stuff.

You may consider buying The Planewalker's Handbook.
