The Order of Champions

An order of paladins, clerics, and other holy warriors. Almost exclusively dragonborn.

The Order was founded in 43 BF, partly in response to atrocities committed against civilians during the War of Blade & Hammer. Initially, the Order focused on protecting innocents. However, the Order's commander played a pivotal role in bringing the elves and dwarves to the treaty table, partly because the Order had become a small but significant complication to both sides. As part of the Treaty of Shango, the Order became a semi-autonomous legion of the new Imperial Army, sworn to the security and peace of the Empire rather than the throne itself. The Order's subsequent history is closely entwined with the Empire itself.

Members of the Order are almost exclusively Neutral Good or Lawful Good. Over time, the Order has struggled with balancing a commitment to Lawful with a commitment to Good. For example, many aspects of the lawful practice of slavery in the Empire seemed evil to followers.
